Creating Healthy Families, by Wrapping-Around One Client at a Time

The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) describes Intensive In-home Services as, “family preservation interventions for children and adolescents who have or are at-risk of serious emotional disturbance, including individuals who also have a diagnosis of mental retardation (intellectual disability). Intensive in-home service is usually time-limited and is provided typically in the residence of an individual who is at risk of being moved to an out-of-home placement or who is being transitioned back home from an out-of-home placement. The service includes 24-hour per day emergency response; crisis treatment; individual and family counseling; life, parenting, and communication skills; and case management and coordination with other services.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, “There are 10.8 million children and adolescents who are experiencing a mental disorder and of that 10.8 million, 5.4 million experience mental illness severe enough to cause impairment at home, in school, and in the community.”

Who we are

Evidenced-based Strategies Designed To Maximize Functioning

DIIP understands that as the network of service providers, it holds the important responsibility of disseminating pertinent information to the multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care for each client and his or her family.

Because we understand that the family itself and the challenges facing individuals and families have evolved over the last few decades. Family composition varies from nuclear families to single parent homes, homes where grandparents are raising their grandchildren, and homes where there are multiple generations living under one roof. In addressing these issues, we employ evidenced-based strategies designed to maximize functioning, address the ever-evolving psycho, social, economic, cultural needs, and to maintain the client within the home.
